DOT requires drug tests for pipeline contractors. (Forum).Boyle, Jack ON AUG. 27, 1999, the U.S. Department of Transportation made it mandatory for all gas companies to establish minimum requirements for both their employees and contractors who perform work on existing gas pipelines (49 Code of Federal Regulations, Part 192 and 195). These minimum requirements were to be established no later than April 27, 2001. While most contractors seem to be aware of these new regulations, most are totally unaware of the new drug and alcohol testing requirements that accompany the law.
