Longs names Schwallie chief merchant - Longs Drug Stores names Bruce Schwallie to executive vice president and chief merchandising officer - Brief Article WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- Longs Drug Stores has promoted Bruce Schwallie to executive vice president and chief merchandising officer. He has served as senior vice president of pharmacy and business development since January 2002.
In his new role, Schwallie will oversee marketing, merchandising and distribution activities for the 463-store drug chain. He will continue to report to Warren Bryant, president and chief executive officer.
In addition, former Safeway executive Rick Dreiling has been hired as executive vice president and chief operations officer. Dreiling will handle all store operations, construction, asset protection and labor management. He also will report to Bryant.
Previously, Dreiling served as executive vice president of marketing, manufacturing and distribution for Safeway.
