Drexel University College of Medicine's Interim Dean Accepts Position with University of South Florida PHILADELPHIA -- Drexel University College of Medicine announced today that Interim Dean Stephen K. Klasko, M.D., M.B.A., has accepted a position as Senior Vice President of Health Services and Medical Dean at the University of South Florida in Tampa.
Dr. Klasko also served the College of Medicine as Professor of obstetrics and gynecology and dean of graduate medical education. Previously, he was a professor and associate chair in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Klasko has a bachelor of science in chemistry and biology from Lehigh University. He earned his medical degree at Hahnemann University and a master's in business administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, a fellow in American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a member of numerous professional organizations.
"I believe I have been part of an amazing team and we have put our hearts and souls into building a school we can all be proud of. Despite significant external threats, we have rebuilt the academic infrastructure of the school and begun realizing the unique synergies that exist with Drexel University," said Dean Klasko.
In making the announcement, James A. Archibald, Senior Vice President for Health Sciences at Drexel University College of Medicine, said, "Dr. Klasko has strongly supported the College of Medicine during an unprecedented time in its history. He brought tremendous passion and energy to his job and is responsible for many initiatives that have enhanced the distinction of the College as a whole and furthered the development of our excellent faculty. He will most certainly be missed and we wish him well."
Dr. Klasko assumes his new position in October.
