Family Resource Centre, Saint John, NB: To offer a 10-week support program for single mothers and their children who are living in poverty and are at risk of becoming homeless. The Single Parent Program is a follow-up to a successful pilot project funded by National Homelessness Initiative in 2004. It will provide families with a variety of information on where to obtain food, shelter, housing and health care services. It will also offer sessions on positive parenting and on such life skills as relationship building, time management, nutrition and budgeting. $10,000

Preventative action initiatives will be developed using research from the first phase of this project. $72,643

Oasis Home Inc, St.Andre, NB. To enable residents at Oassis to gain work experience by participating in the design and development of a recreation and sports area next to the youth house. $19,395

M.C. Henning Research and Consulting Inc. Edmonton. For a 20-week group-based employability skills program for 36 youth facing barriers to employment in the Edmonton area. This program will help them enhance their employability skills for obtaining employment. $359,465

McBride Career Group Inc. Edmonton. To provide 16 youth facing employment barriers with a 25-week, group-based employability skills and work experience program, including client assessment and case management. $127,963

On-Site Placement Services Association, Edmonton. This association will offer client assessment, ongoing case management, group-based employability skills and work experience to 60 youths with significant disabilities, to help them to find and keep work. $473,891

YMCA of Wood Buffalo, Fort McMurray. In consultation with the Youth Employment Coordinated Services for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo Steering Committee, to develop the Wood Buffalo Map of Youth Employment Assets and Opportunities 2005-2008, which will identify current assets, gaps, needs and priorities related to youth employment in the Wood Buffalo region. $90,008

Town of Grande Cache, Grande Cache. In consultation with a steering committee, the Town of Grande Cache will develop a Youth Community Plan, which will identify current assets, gaps, needs and priorities related to youth services, programming and employment in Grande Cache and the surrounding area. $24,946

Lethbridge Community College, Lethbridge. This college will provide 18 youth facing employment barriers with employment skills preparation to improve their employability and help them enter the labour market. $145,975

Lokken Career Training, Medicine Hat. This training centre will provide employment skills preparation for 16 young women facing employment barriers, to improve their employability and help them obtain employment (mainly in the trades) either by becoming self-employed or by returning to school. $145,643

Neighhourhood Link, Toronto, for a walk-in Employment Resource Centre. To give unemployed individuals access to current labour market information, computers, fax machines, and electronic and print resources. The Centre is also offering workshops on topics such as writing cover letters and resumes, interviewing techniques, job searching and networking. $486,383

Progress Career Planning Institute, Scarborough: To operate an Employment Resource Centre that will provide employment services for up to 30,000 unemployed individuals in Scarborough. The Centre will provide clients with access to labour market and job search information and resources that will help them find employment. The Centre will also provide workshops on topics such as job searching, career decision-making and interview techniques, and will refer clients to other employment services in the community. $495,958

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hanover & District. To implement a marketing and outreach plan to recruit big sisters and brothers in small and rural communities in Grey and Bruce counties around Hanover. The goal is to eliminate the waiting list of little sisters and brothers. $41,000 over two years.

Big Sisters Association of North Bay Inc. For supplies and equipment to set up a Friendship Club, which will deliver healthy recreational programs for Little Sisters, Little Brothers and at-risk youth in North Bay and area. $44,000 over two years.

Big Sisters Association of Orillia and District. To recruit volunteers and develop plans for fundraising and communications. This will increase revenue and enable the organization to provide more young girls in under-serviced communities with the benefit of big sisters. $95,000 over three years.

Black Coalition for AIDS Prevention. To develop and implement an annual Mate Masie program, which uses yoga and kwanzaa principles to provide HIV/AIDS and sexually-transmitted infection prevention education to black youth aged 15 to 24 years. $210,000 over three years.

Bridge House (Kingston) Incorporated. To provide counselling, family support and crisis intervention to women and families who are arriving or living in the Kingston area because they are presently visiting a correctional facility. $51,200 over two years.

Broad Reach Foundation for Youth Leaders. To build the organization's ability to raise funds, support community partnerships and expand programming. $155,500 over two years.

Burford Co-operative Preschool Corp. To purchase instruments, an audio system, CDS and resources for music programming at a small rural preschool in Burford. This will encourage strong parent participation and high-quality music instruction for young children. $5,000 over two years.

Burlington Association for the Intellectually Handicapped. To develop communication materials, recruit and train volunteers and organize community fundraising events, helping to integrate both the agency and people with intellectual disabilities into the community. $120,000 over two years.

Caledon Countryside Alliance. To purchase equipment, develop programs and produce communication products, which will raise awareness and help engage local residents in making Caledon a more environmentally sustainable community. $219,000 over three years.

Cambridge Volunteer Bureau. To assess, review and recommend ways that not-for-profit organizations can encourage volunteerism among individuals who work shifts, unusual hours or non-traditional workweeks. This will increase volunteerism in the community. $28,700 over one year.

Canadian Cancer Society, Ontario Division. To purchase software and train staff, which will improve the booking, scheduling and dispatching of volunteer driver-provided transportation. This will enable more cancer patients across Ontario to reach and receive treatment. $100,000 over one year.

Canadian Hearing Society Simcoe/York Region c/o The Canadian Hearing Society. To develop outreach and service-delivery strategies to. enable the organization to meet the needs of York Region's growing Chinese community. $175,000 over three years.

Canadian Hearing Society, London Office c/o The Canadian Hearing Society. To update the office with assistive, alerting and accessibility devices. This will ensure that assistance for hearing problems is easily and fully accessible to all individuals in the community. $15,700 over six months.

Canadian Mental Health Association--Halton Region Branch. To hire a Transition Coordinator who will carry out various organizational development initiatives to enhance the capacity of the organization to meet the increasing need for mental health services in the Halton region. $205,000 over three years.

Canadian Mental Health Association/Peel Branch. To implement a strategic resource development strategy. This will enhance the organization's resource base and help meet growing demand for services by people with mental health disabilities. $217,500 over three years.

Metropolitan Toronto Action Committee on Violence Against Women and Children: to create two video games on healthy relationships for children aged 810 and 11-14, and to produce zinc, an online youth magazine. $99,250

Minwasshin Lodge and aboriginal Women's Support Centre, Ottawa: to deliver a symposium for service providers working with Aboriginal youth, and to develop a peer educational toolkit to be distributed provincewide. $98,350

Mujer: to train 32 young Latin American women and men as peer educators to deliver violence prevention and healthy relationship programs to children and youth in the GTA'S Latin American community. $85,000

Nishnawbe Aski Nation: over one year to update and distribute Girl Power training materials to Nishnawbe Aski Nation communities. Girl Power helps girls aged nine to 15 to develop a positive self-image and skills for healthy relationships. $15,000
