Medicine Shoppe's Abrahamson dies at 65 ST. LOUIS -- Retired president and chief executive officer of Medicine Shoppe International David Abrahamson died last month of pancreatic cancer. He was 65.
"Mr. Abrahamson made countless valued contributions to MSI, and we are tremendously saddened by his passing. Our condolences go out to his family and friends during this difficult time, the company stated.
From 1990 to 2000, he served as president and chief executive officer of pharmacy franchiser Medicine Shoppe International. While president, Abrahamson created the international division and introduced the Medicine Shoppe Connect Web site, an internal communications system that enables licensees and corporate to share databases and to communicate via e-mail.
Abrahamson joined Medicine Shoppe in 1985 as vice President of finance and later serve as senior vice president of corporate services and corporate secretary.
Among those surviving him are his wife of 44 years, Mary Jo Abrahamson; three sons Mike, Peter and Steven; a daughter, Sara Iorio; and 10 grandchildren.
