Combined procedures may be best for benign tracheal stenosis.(Pulmonary Medicine)Brunk, Doug SEATTLE -- Laser bronchoscopy should be considered as an adjunct to balloon dilation for the treatment of benign tracheal stenosis, Maria del Mar Cirino-Marcano, M.D., reported in a poster session at the annual meeting of the American College of Chest Physicians.
Combining the procedures "results in fewer interventions and less granulation tissue," said Dr. Cirino-Marcano of the department of medicine at Tulane University, New Orleans. "A randomized, prospective trial is warranted."
