Certified Pharmacy Tech
Drug Store News launches tech CE - News in Brief - pharmacy technician continuing education program - Brief ArticleKimberly Werner Drug Store News' Continuing Education Quarterly has expanded to include a continuing education program developed specifically for pharmacy technicians working in the retail pharmacy environment.
Supported by a grant from Wyeth, the Retail Pharmacy Technician Continuing Education Program will provide a total of five lessons, with each lesson offering two hours of CE credit.
The lessons have been developed to meet the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board re-certification requirements. All technicians, however, are encouraged to participate in the continuing education program whether or not they are PTCB certified.
The first lesson, which will be distributed in the January March issue of CEQ, will address federal law for controlled substances. Subsequent lessons will examine reimbursement issues, communication and problem-solving skills, retail pharmacy-based care initiatives, and the role of technicians in patient safety and the prevention of medication errors. Lessons will be printed as a special insert in each issue of CEQ in 2002.
Due to Wyeth's generous support, no fee for enrollment or processing of lessons will be charged to technicians.
