Board tackles safe pharmacy guidelines - Georgia state board of pharmacy The state board of pharmacy recently tackled guidelines, recommended by the workload task force committee, that are meant to ensure protection of health, safety and welfare of Georgia patients with regard to the range and quality of pharmacy care and services. Among the guidelines are:
* Pharmacy designs should permit organized workflow.
* Pharmacists should be informed via pharmacy computers when interactions and contraindications must be reviewed.
* Practice skill levels should be maintained to meet the demands of the practice site, workload and clientele.
* Workload quotas should include peak workload periods, pharmacy design and staff training.
